Blue Ridge Pottery- located in Stanardsville, Virginia on Route 33 just a short drive from Massanutten. Has classes and activities where you can make something to keep to remember your visit as well as many beautiful things to purchase.

The Civil War Tour- Tour local battlefields, hear history, and visit the Hall of Valor Civil War Museum.

Crystal Caverns at Hupps Hill- One of the oldest documented tour caverns in Virginia. Located between Middleburg and Strasburg in the same complex as the Stonewall Jackson Museum. Be sure to experience the Living History Lantern Tour where you can view the formations by lantern light just as the civil war soldiers would have in the past.

Day trip to Washington, DC- Monuments, the White House, Capitol building, Lincoln monument, Smithsonian museum and more.

Dinosaur Land- See what roamed the earth long ago in all their terror. Over 50 dinosaurs are realistically displayed in this outdoor walk through park. Check out photos from our trip.

Endless Caverns- Located on the side of Massanutten mountain the caverns were discovered in 1879.

Frontier Culture Museum-Located in  Staunton, Virginia shows how life used to be with real historic farm buildings, tours, period dress and more. The kids will love this.

Grand Caverns- Open 7 days a week years round except for certain holidays. 

Hardesty-Higgins House- Located at 212 South Main Street Harrisonburg, Virginia about 20 minutes from Massanutten. Local artists demonstrate their craft while visiting with you. Call (540)-432-8935 to find out more.

Luray Caverns- See nature at its best, travel the living maze and more.

Luray Zoo- A rescue zoo with a lot of animals (over 250) some of which you may pet.

The Presidents Tour- Visit the residences of Thomas Jefferson (Monticello)and James Monroe (Ash Lawn Highland) and also Michie Tavern.

Natural Bridge Petting Zoo- Walk through the park and be able to feed and touch the wonderful animals.  My children love this place see these pictures of us taken of us at Natural Bridge.  Features elephant rides and giraffes too!

Natural Bridge Virginia-Features a real Native American village, caverns, wax museum, toy museum, monster museum, dino kingdom to name just a few.

New Market, Virginia-  Historic battlefields, museums and more.

Shenandoah Caverns-Some of the formations in these caverns have been featured in National geographic magazine. There is also elevator service to these caverns.

Skyline Drive- Drive along the mountain drive or stop and hike to the perfect picnic spot.

Stonewall Jackson Museum at Hupps Hill-  View historical, reenactments, handle reproductions of civil war weapons, uniforms and toys.  Children have their own special area to try on period costumes and learn in a hands on manner.

The Vineyard Tour- Visit the Barboursville Vineyard and the Horton Cellars.

Virginia Quilt Museum- See beautiful quilts both new and old. Also see the Civil War Gallery of Quilts exhibit. The museum has a gift shop and is located at 305 South Main Street in Harrisonburg, Virginia which is about 20 minutes from Massanutten. Call (540)433-3818 for hours

The Wine Connoisseur Tour- Visit  Prince Michel Vineyard and see how wine is made. You may also checkout  Prince Michel Vineyard and drive there yourself and go alone.

The White Oak Lavender Farm- Vist a local lavender farm and make some crafts. Great for kids not to mention relaxing because of all the lavender!

 Other things to do that most don't know

Beer Lovers Dinner- This is held every Tuesday evening either at Fareways Restaurant or at the Conference Center.  A fabulous five course meal prepared by Massanutten's head chef is complimented by brews of distinction.

Hiking- There are three hiking trails in Massanutten. One down near the arboretum and two on the top of Massanutten.  The ones near the top of Massanutten are challenging with the longest being 5 miles in length. 

 Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre- Held every Wednesday evening at the Massanutten Conference Center. Enjoy a thrilling murder mystery along with dinner.  Wonderful menu selection and cash bar available. The Spa At Massanutten- Go take a time out and relax.  Offers Aromatherapy massages with essential oils, facials, manicures, pedicures and more. Both sexes can enjoy a spa experience. Call (540)-289-4040  Open from 9 am to 9 pm.  The Spa books up quickly.

The Winemaker's Dinner-chefs prepare a fabulous 5 course gourmet meal and then invite a local vineyard to pair their wines with each course. This dinner has been offered every Thursday evening for the last 10 years. Call resort (540)289-9441 or extension 6-5033 for information.

     With a list like this you can see that there are lots of local attractions and you will never be bored.
